Barista Job Description

 

Our Baristas need to provide our customers with excellent service--from making excellent coffee to serving our delicious pastries and crepes. Your responsibilities will include helping customers at the register,  ringing in orders, setting up cups for espresso drinks, serving pastries, making crepes, making espresso drinks and other beverages, answering the phone and taking orders, as well as the overall general cleaning and maintenance of the café including washing dishes, sweeping, mopping, folding boxes, etc. As a barista you work hard and need to have a sense of urgency to get things done, be clean, organized, and efficient at what you do. Being able to work well in a team environment and be willing to pitch in wherever needed is a must. You are responsible for cash handling and making sure that the till balances at the end of the shift.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Able to work in a fast paced environment while maintaining service and product quality standards
Able to provide friendly and efficient customer service
Able to work the POS system with minimal mistakes 
Must be able to effectively and positively communicate problems to a supervisor
Must be able to maintain a calm demeanor during busy and stressful times
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Ability to multi-task
Ability to plan and prioritize 
Ability to work quickly and efficiently 
Ability to communicate clearly in English in both writing and verbally
Ability to work on feet for 8 hours
Ability to lift 40 pounds
Qualifications:

Must possess a current Washington State food handler's permit
A positive attitude and impeccable work ethic
Excellent customer service skills
